All Offense In Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints Loss Against East Canton Varsity Hornets Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints fell to East Canton Varsity Hornets 20-14 on Wednesday. East Canton Varsity Hornets collected 13 hits, while the Saints had eight. East Canton Varsity Hornets rallied for the victory despite trailing 4-0 in the first. TCC (2-4) got on the board in the top of the first inning after an error scored one run, and Holden Civiello homered to left field, scoring three runs. East Canton Varsity Hornets flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 5-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Hunter Spencer that drove in two. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints jumped back into the lead in the top of the second inning after Nicholas Lesiecki hit a sacrifice fly, Dylan Dumermuth was struck by a pitch, and Holden Civiello walked, each scoring one run. East Canton Varsity Hornets took the lead in the bottom of the second. Jacob Demyan singled, scoring three runs, to give East Canton Varsity Hornets the advantage, 8-7. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints took the lead in the top of the third inning after Malaki Barker singled to center field, and Dylan Dumermuth hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. East Canton Varsity Hornets flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 14-10. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Kenneth Ford Jr. that drove in two. Edward Bachman took the loss for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints. The hurler went two and one-third innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking four. Ellis Jackson stepped on the bump first for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and eight runs (one earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking five. Eli Starnes started on the mound for East Canton Varsity Hornets. The righty surrendered one hit and six runs (two earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking three. Ellis Jackson and Holden Civiello each collected two hits for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints. Dylan Dumermuth and Holden Civiello each drove in four runs for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints. Malaki Barker paced Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints stole seven bases in the game. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Saints welcome Tuslaw Varsity Mustangs on Saturday for a doubleheader.
