TCC Softball: Miya Olson’s Big Day Propels Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints Past Malvern

Miya Olson drove in six runs on three hits to lead Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints past Malvern 24-4 on Wednesday. Olson hit a grand slam in the first scoring four, singled in the second scoring one, and singled in the third scoring one. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Jessica Selinsky doubled, scoring one run, Melody Johnson singled, scoring two runs, Ryann Walker singled, scoring one run, Olson hit a grand slam, and Saniyah Weston drew a walk, scoring one run. A single by Olson, and a walk by Weston helped Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints extend their early lead in the second. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Walker doubled, scoring two runs, Olson singled, scoring one run, Ellen Norris singled, scoring two runs, and Lynsie Tienarend singled, scoring two runs. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Gracie Beatty was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Weston singled, scoring two runs, and Tienarend doubled, scoring two runs. Tessa Williams earned the win for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints. The hurler surrendered two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out one and walking none. Olson appeared in relief for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints collected 17 hits in the game. Walker, Olson, and Tienarend each collected three hits for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints. Norris and Weston each collected multiple hits for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints had patience at the plate, piling up 11 walks for the game. Cece Hostetler and Weston led the team with three free passes each. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Olson had the most chances in the field with four.
