Despite Multiple Home Runs From Jessica Selinsky, Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints Defeated By Canton South Jessica Selinsky hit two home runs and drove in five, but Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints lost to Canton South 12-6 on Tuesday. Selinsky homered in the sixth and fifth innings. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints opened the scoring in the first after Saniyah Weston doubled, scoring one run. P McKenzie grounded out, which helped Canton South tie the game at one in the top of the third. Canton South took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints committed an error, and M Spencer singled to center field, each scoring two runs. Canton South scored seven runs on seven hits in the top of the fifth inning. A Bourquin doubled, scoring one run, L Russell singled, scoring one run, H Valentine doubled, scoring two runs, McKenzie singled, scoring two runs, and B Dedmon doubled, scoring one run. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to left field by Selinsky on an 0-2 count. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a home run to right field by Selinsky. Spencer earned the win for Canton South. The starter surrendered seven hits and six runs (three earned) over seven innings, striking out 15 and walking four. Tessa Williams took the loss for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints. The right-handed pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 12 runs (one earned) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking four. Selinsky and Weston were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints. Canton South amassed 11 hits in the game. McKenzie provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Canton South with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-5 on the day. Russell, McKenzie , and G Essex each collected two hits for Canton South. Canton South had a strong eye at the plate, amassing five walks for the game. Spencer and Valentine led the team with two free passes each. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints will travel to Minerva for their next game on Saturday.
