Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints Defeats Newcomerstown Varsity Trojans On Back Of Clutch Display From Miya Olson Miya Olson drove in four runs on two hits to lead Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints past Newcomerstown Varsity Trojans 8-6 on Wednesday. Olson hit a home run to center field in the first inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the fifth inning, scoring two. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints built a 5-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off Newcomerstown Varsity Trojans's charge. Newcomerstown Varsity Trojans closed the gap by scoring on an error and a hit by pitch. Newcomerstown Varsity Trojans jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Ryann Walker induced Gracelea Moore to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, and Brandi Morris drew a walk, scoring one run. Olson homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first for the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on seven hits to take the lead, 7-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Olson that drove in two. Walker earned the win for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and six runs (three earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking nine. Moore took the loss for Newcomerstown Varsity Trojans. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking two. Tessa Williams collected the save. Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints piled up 10 hits in the game. Jessica Selinsky, Olson, and Saniyah Weston each collected two hits for Tuscarawas Central Catholic Varsity Lady Saints. Rylee Johnson and Kristen Barker each collected one hit for Newcomerstown Varsity Trojans. Makayla McConnell and Moore each drove in one run for Newcomerstown Varsity Trojans. Newcomerstown Varsity Trojans had patience at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game. Morris, McConnell, Makenzi McConnell, and Barker led the team with two free passes each.
