TCC Volleyball (JV/V): Saints Sweep Malvern, Selinsky Reaches 2,000 Career Assists

Saints Sweep Malvern, Selinsky Reaches 2,000 Career Assists Tuscarawas Central Catholic picked up a victory Thursday night, sweeping Malvern in three sets, 25-18, 25-14 and 25-17. Senior setter Jessica Selinsky reached a major career milestone during the victory, recording her 2,000th career assist. A four-year setter for the Saints, Selinsky has been a steady presence and leader on the court throughout her high school career. Her ability to run the offense, communicate with her teammates and provide leadership has played an important role in the Saints’ success. She finished the night with 27 assists, eight digs, two kills and an ace, adding another strong performance to a career that has now surpassed 2,000 assists. The Saints put together a balanced offensive effort, finishing with 32 kills. Miya Olson led TCC with nine kills, eight digs, two aces, one solo block and two block assists. Ryann Walker finished with eight kills and 15 digs, while Reese Knight added seven kills, six digs and an ace. Elena Dodson recorded four kills and a dig, while Lucy Oberholzer added two kills, two digs and a block assist. Kieran Fausel led the Saints defensively with 17 digs and also recorded two aces, while Suzanna Sica-Calel contributed six digs and an ace. As a team, TCC finished with 63 digs and seven aces. TCC’s junior varsity team completed the successful night with a straight-set victory of its own, defeating Malvern 25-13 and 26-24. The Saints return to conference action Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Conotton Valley. JV will begin at 5:30 p.m., with varsity to follow.
